Inspect the seal bolster. If it has slipped into the lower seal or has been damaged/distorted, it has to be replaced.

Weatherstrip continues up "A" pillar along side the retainer.

Clean the "A" pillar retainer and hatch channel.

Remove all grease, silicone, bits of rubber and chunks of "dum-dum" from the retainers and channel.
