Powertrain Control Module: Removal and Replacement
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
2. Remove right cowl side trim panel to expose Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (12A650).
3. Remove engine PCM electrical connector retainer bolt.
4. Remove lower PCM bracket retaining screw.
5. Remove engine control sensor wiring connector from PCM.
6. Remove PCM from bracket by pulling downward.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
2. Tighten bracket retaining screw to 2.7-3.7 Nm (24-32 in lb).
3. Tighten PCM electrical connector retainer bolt to 3.7 Nm (32 in lb).
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control
module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
