Mustang V8-302 5.0L COBRA (1995)
1.
With the vehicle on a hoist, and the steering wheel turned all the way towards one direction, inspect the tip of the ball stud. See Figure 1.

The suspect tie rod ends are stamped with the letter "D". The correct tie rod ends have non-threaded stud extension or "dog points" at the tip of the
ball stud.
3.
With the steering wheel turned all the way towards the opposite direction, inspect the other tie rod end.
Replacement
Replace suspect tie rod ends. Re-use the ball stud nut and install a new cotter pin to secure the assembly. Torque nuts to 48-63 N-m (35-47 lb-ft) and set
toe to specifications. Refer to the 1995 Mustang Shop Manual, Section 11-02 for details.
