Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Left Side
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Install suitable lifting hooks to engine, then install a suitable engine support frame, raise engine to release pressure on motor mounts.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel assemblies.
4. Remove EGR and secondary air injection tubes from LH exhaust manifold.
5. Remove dual converter Y pipe.
6. Disconnect RH and LH ball joints and tie rod ends from hub and spindle assemblies.
7. Disconnect steering coupling at pinch bolt.
8. Support sub frame with suitable adjustable jacks.
9. Remove motor mount and subframe bolts, then lower subframe to allow clearance for manifold removal.
10. Remove exhaust manifold mounting bolts, then manifold, discarding gaskets.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Ensure mating surfaces of manifold and head are clean and free of burrs and gouges.
b. Ensure alignment of new intake gaskets with holes in cylinder head.

c. Install and lightly tighten manifold bolts in sequence, then tighten bolts in sequence to 13-16 ft lb.
