Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair

Bearing 

1. CAUTION:  The pilot bearing is a sealed bearing and must not be immersed in any type of cleaning fluid.

Inspect the pilot bearing for:
1

needle rollers for scoring, worn or broken rollers, cracked roller cage inadequate grease or discoloration.

2

seal leakage misalignment and looseness in the crankshaft.

Installation 

1. NOTE:  Care should be taken to drive the flywheel dowel squarely into place until it is fully seated and to not damage the surrounding surface

areas.

Install all flywheel dowels by driving them into place using a brass or plastic mallet.
