BODY CONTROL MODULE B - U1000 AND RELATED
DTCS - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 7/26/2010
Some 2010-2011 Mustang vehicles built on or before 7/26/2010 may experience electrical circuit concerns related to systems controlled by the Body
Control Module B (BCM-B) following a battery disconnect. The BCM-B memory retains old circuit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) faults even after the
prior repair resolved the condition. Any subsequent battery disconnects may result in the return of the original DTCs and cause the BCM-B to shut down
the previously repaired circuit(s).
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
The BCM-B utilizes a field-effect transistor protective circuit strategy for many of its outputs. Output loads (current level) are monitored for excessive
current (typically short circuits) and are shut down (turns off the voltage or ground provided by the module) when a fault event is detected.
U1000 sets when the BCM-B has disabled an output circuit due to a repetitive fault that overloads said circuit. A corresponding DTC for the circuit in
question is also set.

1. Refer to the appropriate pinpoint test in WSM, Section 419-10 and correct any Bxxx DTCs present.
2. Check the BCM-B software level using the IDS scan tool.
a. If the BCM-B software part number suffix is -AH, -BH, or lower, program the module to the latest calibration using IDS release 71.00 or higher.
b. If the BCM-B software part number suffix is -AJ, -BJ, or higher, do not reprogram the module since it already contains the latest software.
