Never probe the electrical connectors on safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors. Failure to follow this
instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the safety belt pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors, which increases the risk of
serious personal injury or death.
NOTE:
-
The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal
operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.

The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

Repair is made by installing a new part only. If the new part does not correct the condition, install the original part and carry out the diagnostic
procedure again.
All retractors
1. Move the seat to the most forward position on the side with the affected safety belt retractor.
2. Depower the SRS.
3. Remove the rear seat cushion.
Coupe retractor
4. Remove the rear seat backrest.
All retractors
5. Remove the safety belt anchor bolt.

To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
6. Remove the lower quarter trim panel (and upper quarter trim panel for convertible).
Passenger retractor
7. Disconnect the belt tension sensor (BTS) electrical connector.

Separate the BTS wire harness and retainers from the body.
All retractors
8. Disconnect the safety belt retractor and pretensioner electrical connector.

Pull and release the electrical connector lock.
Coupe retractor
9. NOTE: If the D-ring cover is damaged or does not remain attached, install a new D-ring cover.
Remove the D-ring cover.
10. NOTE:

Make sure the D-ring safety belt presenter is in the downward position (shipping position) before installation.

Note anti-rotation tab position for installation.
Remove the D-ring bolt and spacer.
-
To install, 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
Convertible retractor
11. NOTE: Note anti-rotation tab position for installation.
Remove the D-ring bolt.

To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
All retractors
12. Detach the secondary safety belt guide.
13. Remove the bolt and safety belt retractor and pretensioner.

To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
14. CAUTION: The shipping clip on a new retractor must remain attached prior to the installation of the retractor into the vehicle. To
prevent component failure, the clip must be removed after the retractor is installed.
NOTE: Make sure the safety belt is not twisted.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Make sure the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants after installation.
