Mustang Cobra V8-281 4.6L DOHC VIN V MFI (1997)
24. Remove bolts retaining RH valve cover (6582) to cylinder head (6049) and remove RH valve cover.
25. Remove bolts and stud bolt retaining LH valve cover to cylinder head and remove LH valve cover.
26. Remove four bolts retaining oil pan (6675) to engine front cover.
27. Remove nine stud bolts and six bolts retaining engine front cover to engine.
28. Remove rocker arms (6564) from intake valves (6507) and exhaust valves (6505) on cylinder heads.
29. Remove timing chains.
30. Remove 12 oil pan retaining bolts. Remove oil pan and oil pan gasket (6710).
31. Remove three oil pump screen cover and tube retaining bolts. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube (6622) and oil pump inlet tube gasket
(6626).
32. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube spacer from main bearing cap stud.
33. Remove four oil pump retaining bolts and remove oil pump (6600).
34. Remove oil pan baffle (6687).
35. Turn crankshaft until connecting rod bearing (6211) to be removed is accessible.
NOTE: Connecting rods (6200) and connecting rod bearings should be numbered to make sure they are assembled in their original positions.
36. If more than one connecting rod bearing is being removed, identify the connecting rod bearings, connecting rods and connecting rod caps for
cylinder position.
