High Pressure Safety Valve HVAC: Description and Operation
A/C High Pressure Safety Valve
An A/C compressor relief valve has been incorporated in the compressor's A/C manifold and tube to:

relieve unusually high refrigerant system discharge pressure buildups, 3103 kPa (450 psi) and above.
-
prevent damage to the A/C compressor and other A/C system components.

avoid total refrigerant loss by closing after the excessive pressure has been relieved.
