Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Remove serpentine drive belt.
3. Raise vehicle on a hoist.
4. Disconnect crankshaft position sensor and A/C compressor electrical connectors from the engine control sensor wiring.
5. Recover A/C system.
6. Remove A/C compressor.
7. Remove retaining screw and remove crankshaft position sensor.
Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
INSTALLATION
1. Make sure mounting surface is clean and that O-ring is in proper location on crankshaft position sensor.
2. Position crankshaft position sensor and install retaining screw. Tighten to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb in).
