Horn Switch: Service and Repair

WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SERVICING AN AIR BAG VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE
BATTERY (10653) AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY,
THE BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED FOR ONE MINUTE TO DE-ENERGIZE THE BACKUP POWER
SUPPLY PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
1. Center front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute.
4. Remove driver side air bag module.
5. Disconnect horn switch.
6. Remove four Torx@ head retaining bolts and remove horn switch plates.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Tighten horn switch retaining bolts to 4-5 N.m (36-44 lb-in).
3. Tighten driver air bag module retaining screws to 10-14 N.m (89-123 lb-in).
