6. Align holes in clamp plate with holes in rear axle universal joint flange and install bolts. Snug bolts evenly.
7. CAUTION: This operation disturbs the pinion bearing preload. Pinion bearing preload must be reset if the pinion nut has been loosened or
removed for flange re-indexing or replacement.
Using Dial Indicator/Magnetic Base 100-DO02 (D78P-4201-B) or equivalent, turn Companion Flange Runout Gauge 205-319 (T92L-4851-B) as
shown to locate and mark high spot on rear axle universal joint flange. If flange runout exceeds 0.254 mm (0.010 inch), remove rear axle universal
joint flange, re-index 180° on pinion and re-install. If flange runout is still more than 0.254 mm (0.010 inch), replace rear axle universal joint
flange.
8. If excessive runout is still evident after replacement of the rear axle universal joint flange, replace the differential ring gear and pinion and repeat
the above checks until runout is within specifications. Install the driveshaft assembly.. Tighten bolts to 93-130 Nm (69-95 ft. lbs.).
