ISSUE:
The service modification procedure described in TSB 90-5-5 can only be performed on the original display assembly. If the trip computer
was replaced prior to the publication of TSB 90-5-5, the service replacement trip computer assembly may cause the same inaccurate readings.
The service replacement can not be modified.
ACTION:
Install a new trip computer display assembly if the original unit was replaced and the subject concern was not resolved. Refer to the
following procedure for service details.
1. Remove the trip computer display assembly. Refer to the 1990 Probe Shop Manual, Section 33-61 for removal procedure.
2. Examine the trip computer display cover for the number "KA-36".
3. If "KA-36" is observed, modify the trip computer display as specified in TSB 90-6-5.
4. If any number other than "KA-36" is seen, the display is a service instafled part and can not be modified. The display assembly must be replaced.
Refer to the Parts Block for correct parts usage.
NOTE:
IF THE TRIP COMPUTER DISPLAY IS MODIFIED OR REOUIRES REPLACEMENT, THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY (DTE) WILL
DISPLAY -- MILES UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN 60-80 MILES.
