Timing Belt: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1.
Remove timing belt covers, then the righthand engine mount.
Aligning Crankshaft Gear To TDC
2.
Align crankshaft timing belt gear to Top Dead Center (TDC) by turning crankshaft in direction of normal rotation.
Belt Tensioner Bolt Removal
3.
Remove two auto belt tensioner bolts in order shown.
4.
If timing belt is going to be reused, place a directional mark on belt that indicates direction of rotation, then remove belt.
INSTALLATION
Compressing Tensioner Piston
1.
Compress auto belt tensioner until hole in piston is aligned with second hole in case. Insert a 0.06 inch diameter wire or pin through second hole to
keep piston compressed.
