Firmly pull the antenna mast out of the antenna body, Figure 2.

NOTE: OBSERVE THE PLASTIC CABLE END FOR A SLIGHT TAPER. IF THE CABLE APPEARS BROKEN, A SECTION OF THE PLASTIC

CABLE COULD BE INSIDE THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. REFER TO STEP # 9 FOR ANTENNA MOTOR DISASSEMBLY.

Obtain a new service mast assembly (E92Z-18A886-B). Position the plastic cable so the "teeth" are facing the front of the vehicle.

6.

Manually extend the antenna mast.

a.

Insert the cable into the antenna tube until resistance is felt.

b.

Turn the cable slightly left and right to fully engage the cable into the motor gear.

7.

Check the antenna retraction.

a.

Have someone turn the radio OFF.

b.

Apply light pressure to the mast.

c.

When the motor starts retracting, it will "wind" the cable into the motor assembly and retract the antenna mast sections.

8.

Install the parts removed during Steps # 1 and # 2. Cycle the antenna several times to confirm proper extension and retraction of the mast.

9.

If the original cable end was broken as noted in Step # 4, remove the power antenna motor assembly. Refer to the 1991 Probe Shop Manual, Pages
15-02-5 and 15-02-6 for removal procedure.
