Steering Column
The steering wheel is attached to the steering column assembly with a single retaining bolt. The steering gear pinion is connected to the steering column through a flexible coupling. The coupling is fixed to the pinion with a pinch bolt and to the column by means of a pinch bolt, cage and aligner assembly.
Steering Gear
WARNING:In order to achieve wider vehicle tracking, the steering rack tie rods have been extended on the Ford Racing Puma. The standard Ford Puma steering rack must be fitted with the Ford Racing Puma extended tie rods. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
The power assisted steering gear is of the conventional rack and pinion type.
The steering gear is mounted on the subframe.
Power Steering Pump
Hydraulic fluid pressure is supplied to the steering gear by a hydraulic pump with a remote reservoir. The reservoir is located on the right-hand side of the engine compartment.
