Approximately 250 units built in the month of January, 1983 had the shift linkage modified in production on an interim basis to eliminate the potential
for shift rod contact/noise with the V6 engine bellcrank mounting bracket during engine rev-up/powertrain roll (Figure 15).

If the interim shift rod (with the ground off pilot tip) and bellcrank require disassembly, attempts to reassemble these parts will result in damage to the
plastic snap grommet and could result in inconsistent pivot/joint function. Therefore, a pre-assembled rod and bellcrank (E3TZ-7A185-H) must be
installed in place of the interim shift rod and bellcrank when the original linkage is disassembled for service work (Figure 16).
