A high-pitched squeal or a rubbing noise may be caused by pilot bore concentricity in the 2.8L clutch housing. To check/eliminate this condition, the
following diagnostic/service procedure is provided to supplement TSB 82-23-26, dated November 4, 1982.
Supplemental Diagnostic/Service Procedure
When servicing suspected release bearing noise, follow the diagnostic/service procedure outlined in TSB Article No. 82-23-26, issued November 4,
1982, along with the two supplemental procedures outlined below:

If the vehicle incurs an incidence of release bearing noise, follow the procedure for clutch housing inspection and alignment provided in the Truck
Shop Manual, Page 16-01-05. NOTE: To follow this procedure, alignment tool post assembly T75L-6392-A is required.

If the face runout of the clutch housing exceeds .010 inches (0.254 mm) and/or bore runout exceeds .015 inches (0.381 mm) and servicing action
cannot be achieved via the described shimming procedure (Page 16-01-06 of the Truck Shop Manual), the clutch housing must be replaced.
