Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.

Remove the cylinder head and related parts, refer to CYLINDER HEAD.See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair

2.

Remove the hydraulic lifters with a magnet. Place them in a rack in sequence. It the lifters are stuck in bores, use plier-type tool to remove them.
Rotate lifter back and forth to loosen them from gum and varnish deposits.

INSTALLATION

1.

Clean the lifters. Lifters and bores are to be lubricated with heavy oil SF before installation. Install the lifters in their original bores with a magnet.
Check any new lifter for proper fit in the bore to which it is installed.See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair

2.

Install the cylinder head and related parts following procedures, refer to CYLINDER HEAD .
