Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION:  

The torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid is used in the transmission control system to control the application, modulation, and release of the torque
converter clutch.

SYMPTOMS: 

Failed ON-engine runs rough/vehicle shudder, engine stalls in Drive at low idle speeds (1st, 2nd, 3rd,4th, or 5th gear).

Failed OFF-torque converter never engages.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES:  

P0741 [a], P0743 [b], P1740, P1744 [a].

[a] May also be generated by a non-electrical transmission hardware condition.
[b] Output circuit check, generated only by electrical conditions.
