Camshaft: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the push rods.
3. Remove the timing chain.
4. Remove the camshaft synchronizer.

5. Remove the bolts and the camshaft thrust plate.

6. Remove the camshaft.

CAUTION:  Damage to the camshaft and/or the camshaft bearings can occur if the camshaft is allowed to drop on the bearing surface or cylinder
block.

INSTALLATION 

1. Install the camshaft.

NOTE:  Lubricate the camshaft, the camshaft bearings, and the camshaft position sensor drive gear with Super Premium SAE 5W30 Motor Oil
XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G prior to installation.
