ISSUE
There may be a vibration at high speeds which may cause the transmission extension housing seal to leak or the transmission extension housing bushing
to move out of position or become damaged on some vehicles. This.may be caused by the calibration in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
ACTION
Replace the PCM, extension housing, and driveshaft and, if necessary, replace the transmission. The revised PCM assembly reduces the maximum speed
limit to 150 km/h (94 mph) for Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFVs) and 145 km/h (90 mph) for gasoline vehicles in U.S. applications which will reduce the
possibility of vibrations. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of
modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized
Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
