Camshaft: Service and Repair
1.
Remove engine from vehicle as described under ``Engine, Replace.''
2.
Remove valve cover, rocker shaft assembly and pushrods. Remove pushrods so they can be reinstalled in their original positions.
3.
Remove timing gear case cover and camshaft gear as described under ``Timing Gear Case & Timing Gears, Replace.''
4.
Remove oil pan and oil pump from engine.
5.
Remove camshaft thrust plate and the camshaft. Use care not to damage camshaft lobes during removal.
6.
Reverse procedure to install.
