Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached, then stop engine.
2.
Wipe off crankshaft pulley and install reflective tape, Fig. 16.
3.
Direct the light from photoelectric tachometer (part No. 99-0001 or equivalent) onto reflective tape and note RPM with engine running at idle.
4.
If idle RPM is not within specifications listed on vehicle emissions decal, adjust idle speed as follows:
a. Loosen idle speed adjusting bolt locknut, Fig. 17.
b. Rotate bolt counterclockwise to decrease idle speed, or clockwise to increase idle speed.
c. Tighten locknut when idle speed is within specifications.
d. Depress accelerator several times to ensure engine speed returns to proper idle.
