Air Bag Deactivation Switch: Service and Repair
REMOVAL and INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven to relearn the strategy.
WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before servicing or
replacing any air bag system components. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery to starter relay cable and
wait one minute.
2. Disconnect the battery to starter relay cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply to be depleted.
3. Remove rubber cup holder inserts from console to expose locking screws.
4. Turn two locking screws counterclockwise and remove console panel.
