LIGHT TRUCK:

ISSUE:
An oil leak may occur around the rocker cover gasket. This can be caused by variations in the gasket curing process and sealing capability.
ACTION:
Install two new rocker cover gaskets, along with conical spring washer screws, to prevent oil leaks. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
2.9L V6 ENGINE
NOTE:
BEFORE PROCEEDING, OBSERVE WHETHER THE GASKETS BEING REPLACED HAVE A BLACK TAB STICKING OUT (OLD LEVEL
GASKET IS BROWN). IF THE TAB IS BLACK, WARM THE ENGINE TO A COOLANT TEMPERATURE OF 140~-160~ F (60~-71~C) BEFORE
REMOVING THE GASKETS.
1.
Clean all gasket material from the cylinder heads, intake manifolds and rocker arm cover gasket surfaces.
2.
Peel the plastic film from the new gasket (F1TZ-6584-A), Figure 1.

Stick the self adhesive side to the rocker cover.
