Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines).
2.
Remove steering column shroud, then the two lower instrument trim panels and rotate headlamp switch trim cover to gain access to instrument
cluster trim cover screws.
3.
Remove cluster trim cover from instrument panel (eight screws), then the cluster to instrument panel retaining screws (four).
4.
Pull cluster out from panel slightly, then disconnect speedometer cable, electrical connector to printed circuit board, and any bulb and socket
assemblies from wiring harness to cluster. It may be necessary to disconnect speedometer cable from transmission and pull cable through
cowl to gain access to speedometer quick disconnect on back of cluster.
5.
Remove cluster assembly from instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
1.
Apply an approximate 3/16 inch diameter ball of dielectric silicone D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent, in drive hole of speedometer head.
2.
Position cluster at instrument panel, connect speedometer cable, electrical connector to printed circuit board, and any bulb and socket assemblies
that were disconnected.
3.
Install cluster to instrument panel, cluster trim panels and steering column shroud.
4.
Connect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines), then check operation of cluster assembly gauges, lamps and turn signals.
