Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair
1.
Remove spindle then the shaft and joint assembly as described previously.
2.
If tie rod has not been removed, remove cotter pin and nut and disconnect tie rod from steering arm.
3.
Remove cotter pin and loosen nut on top ball joint stud. Loosen bottom nut inside knuckle, then remove top nut.
4.
Break spindle loose from ball stud, then remove camber adjuster. Mark position of adjuster for assembly reference.
5.
Install steering knuckle in suitable soft jawed vise, then remove snap ring from lower ball joint socket.
6.
Press ball joints from steering knuckle using C-Frame tool No. T74P-4635-C with ball joint remover tool No. T83T-3050-A, or equivalent.
7.
Reverse procedure to install. The lower ball joint must be installed first. Tighten attaching bolts to specifications in
SPECIFICATIONS/MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS.
