Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove valve covers from engine.
3. Loosen fulcrum bolt of the rocker arm(s) to be replaced, then remove the rocker arm(s).

INSTALLATION 

1. Apply ESE-M2C39-F oil to push rod and rocker arm.
2. Install rocker arm into position with push rod, and snug rocker arm bolt.
3. Rotate crankshaft to position camshaft lobe straight down and away from push rods. Tighten rocker arm bolt to 11 Nm (8 ft lb) to seat rocker arm

into cylinder head.

CAUTION:  Rocker arm must be fully seated into cylinder head, and push rod must be fully seated in rocker arm and lifter before final tightening,
or damage may occur.

4. Tighten rocker arm bolt to 26-38 Nm (19-28 ft lb).
5. Repeat procedure for any additional rocker arms to be installed.
6. Install valve covers.
7. Connect battery ground cable.
8. Run engine and check for leaks.
