COOLING SYSTEM - 4.0L - HIGH ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE - VEHICLES BUILT FROM 9/9/90 THROUGH 10/15/90 WITH A/C
SUPER COOL, SUPER A/C AND TRAILER TOW
LIGHT TRUCK:
1991 EXPLORER, RANGER
ISSUE:
High engine coolant temperature may be indicated by a full-scale reading on the instrument panel gauge or by engine coolant boiling during
operation in high ambient temperatures. These conditions occur because the earlier production fan and clutches were unable to satisfactorily
handle the extra load demands.
ACTION:
Install new fan and clutch assemblies with improved cooling capacity characteristics. Refer to the 1991 Aerostar, Explorer, Ranger Shop
Manual, Section 03-05, for service details.
NOTE:
MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT BETWEEN 9/9/90 AND 10/15/90.
