Pinpoint Test E: The Demand Lighting Is Inoperative
Refer to wiring Diagram Set 89, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information. See: Diagrams/Electrical Diagrams/Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
The instrument panel dimmer switch controls the demand lighting function. The Smart Junction Box (SJB) provides a reference voltage to the instrument
panel dimmer switch through circuit CLN27 (WH/BN). When the instrument panel dimmer switch is closed, the instrument panel dimmer switch routes
the voltage reference signal to ground through circuit GD161 (BK/YE). The SJB monitors the instrument panel dimmer switch circuit, and based on the
status, the SJB supplies voltage to the interior lamp on circuit CLN28 (GN/BU). The interior lamp relay in the SJB deactivates the voltage after a
predetermined time-out or if turned off from the instrument panel dimmer switch.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
-
Wiring, terminals or connectors
-
Instrument panel dimmer switch
-
SJB
PINPOINT TEST E: THE DEMAND LIGHTING IS INOPERATIVE
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the
connector.

-
Ignition OFF.
-
Disconnect: Instrument Panel Dimmer Switch C2065.
-
Ignition ON.
-
Measure the voltage between the dimmer control switch C2065-2, circuit CLN27 (WH/BN), harness side and ground.
-
Is any voltage present?
Yes
GO to E3.
No
