ISSUE
Some 2007-2009 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 4.0L engine may exhibit a noisy (screech/grind) starter if the ignition key is returned too slowly to the
released position upon starting. Additionally, some vehicles may exhibit a delayed engagement from Park or Neutral to Drive or Reverse.
ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 59.10 and higher or 60.02 and higher. This new calibration is
not included in the VCM 2009.3 DVD. Calibration files may be obtained at the website.
