Removal and Installation
Remove
1. Disconnect the battery earth lead.

2. Release the handbrake lever and raise the vehicle.

3. De‐adjust the handbrake cable.
1. Remove the locking pin.
2. Slacken the adjuster locknut.
3. Slacken the adjuster until the levers on the calipers have returned to their stops.

4. Disconnect the exhaust to muffler flange joint.
   Unhook the rubber exhaust hangers necessary to gain access.

5. Remove the exhaust heatshield.

6. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the equaliser yoke.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the centre console as described in Operation No. 43 814 0.

9. Remove the handbrake gaiter.
1. Remove the gaiter retaining plate.
2. Remove the gaiter.

10. Remove the handbrake lever assembly.
1. Disconnect the handbrake warning light multiplug.
2. Remove the handbrake lever assembly.
Install
11. Refit the handbrake assembly.
1. Refit the handbrake lever assembly.
2. Reconnect the handbrake warning light multiplug.
12. Refit the handbrake gaiter and retaining plate.
   Ensure that the lower moulding and retaining plate engage correctly.
13. Refit the centre console as described in Operation No. 43 814 0.
14. Raise the vehicle.
15. Reconnect the handbrake cable to the equaliser yoke.
16. Refit the exhaust heatshield.

17. Reconnect the exhaust to muffler flange joint.
   Refit the relevant rubber exhaust hangers.
18. Adjust the handbrake as described in Operation No. 12 662 0.
19. Lower the vehicle and reconnect the battery earth lead.
