Gaiter - Steering Rack - Remove And Install (13 134 0)

Removal and Installation

Special Tools

13‐006 Separator, Ball Joint

Remove

1. Loosen the front wheel nuts.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the front wheel.

Track Rod End - Remove (13 273 0)

4. Disconnect the track rod end.

1. Slacken the track rod end lock nut.

2. Remove the track rod end retaining nut.

NOTE:

Make a note of the number of turns required to remove the ball joint.

5. Release the track rod end ball joint from the spindle carrier.

• Remove the ball joint.

CAUTION:

If necessary clean the track rod.

6. Remove the gaiter.

1. Remove the gaiter outer retaining clip.

2. Remove the gaiter inner plastic clamp band.

3. Remove the gaiter.

Install

7. Install the gaiter and secure with new inner and outer clips.

Track Rod End - Install (13 273 0)

NOTE:

Make sure the track rod end is installed by the same number of turns as used to remove it.

NOTE:

Install new track rod end retaining nuts.

8. Install the track rod end to the spindle carrier.

1. Install the track rod retaining nut.

2. Tighten the track rod end locknut.

9. Refit the road wheel.

10. Lower the vehicle.

• Settle the suspension.

11. Check the front wheel alignment (refer to Operation numbers 14 111 0 and 14 111 3).
