Removal and Installation
Remove

WARNING:

Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the electronic air bag control module multiplug, or any other supplementary restraint system multiplugs. Failure to follow this warning could cause accidental air bag deployment and may lead to personal injury.

CAUTION:

Do not proceed with this procedure unless new side air bag retaining rivets are available. Do Not use non Ford service components. Failure to follow recommended procedure may cause accidental side air bag deployment and may cause personal injury.
1. Remove the front seat assembly (refer to Operation Number 40 100 0).

2. Remove the cowl side panel (refer to Operation Number 43 735 0).
3. Locally detach the floor covering.

4. Locally detach the sound deadening floor covering.

5. Detach the side air bag crash sensor.
• Remove the three retaining bolts.

6. Remove the side air bag crash sensor.
• Disconnect the multiplug.
Install

CAUTION:

Make sure there are no signs of damage in the floor pan area adjacent to the crash sensor. In correct mounting of this component may impair its function. Failure to follow this caution may cause premature air bag deployment and may cause personal injury.
7. Refit the components in reverse order.
