Pinpoint Tests

NOTE:
NOTE:Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements.

PINPOINT TEST A : THE INTERIOR LAMP IS INOPERATIVE

TEST CONDITIONS DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS
A1: CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR LAMP
1
Check the operation of the interior lamp in both ON and ILLUMINATED ENTRY positions.

Is the interior lamp inoperative in both positions?
Yes
No
If inoperative in the ON position, GO to A3. If inoperative in the ILLUMINATED ENTRY position, GO to A4.
A2: CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMP FOR POWER
1
Disconnect Interior Lamp C104A.

2
Measure the voltage between C104A pin 1, circuit 29-LC7 (OG/BU), harness side and ground.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
INSTALL a new interior lamp. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
A3: CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMP CIRCUIT FOR GROUND
1
Disconnect Lamp C104.

2
Measure the resistance between the interior lamp C104 pin 3, 31-LC7 (BK), harness side and ground.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new interior lamp. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit 31-LC7 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
A4: CHECK CIRCUIT 31S-LC7 (BK/BU) FOR OPEN
1
Disconnect Lights-ON-Warning Buzzer C147.

2
Measure the resistance between the interior lamp C104 pin 1, 31S-LC7 (BK/BU), harness side and the lights-ON-warning buzzer C147 pin 2, circuit 31S-LC7 (BK/BU), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
No
REPAIR circuit 31S-LC7 (BK/BU). TEST the system for normal operation.
A5: CHECK CIRCUITS 31S-LC9 (BK/RD) AND 31S-LC21 (BK/GN) FOR OPEN
1
Disconnect Lights-ON-Warning Buzzer C147.
2
Disconnect Driver Side Interior Lamp Switch C124 (LHD) or C125 (RHD).

3
Measure the resistance between:
  • (LHD) the lights-ON-warning buzzer C147 pin 1, circuit 31S-LC9 (BK/RD) and the driver side interior lamp switch C124 pin 1, harness side.
  • (RHD) the lights-ON-warning buzzer C147 pin 1, circuit 31S-LC21 (BK/GN) and the driver side interior lamp switch C125 pin 1, harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
CLEAN and TIGHTEN the inoperative interior lamp switch. TEST the system for normal operation. If the the concern persists. INSTALL a new interior lamp switch.
No
REPAIR circuit 31S-LC9 (BK/RD) or circuit 31S-LC21 (BK/GN). TEST the system for normal operation.

PINPOINT TEST B : THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LAMP IS INOPERATIVE

TEST CONDITIONS DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS
B1: CHECK THE THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LAMP CIRCUIT FOR OPEN
1
Disconnect Luggage Compartment Lamp C130.

2
Measure the voltage between the luggage compartment lamp C130 pin 1, circuit 29-LB25 (OG/BU), harness side and C130 pin 2, circuit 31S-LB26 (BK/OG), harness side.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
INSTALL a new luggage compartment lamp. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
B2: CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LAMP
1
Open the liftgate.

2
Measure the voltage between the luggage compartment lamp C130 pin 1, circuit 29-LB25 (OG/BU), harness side and ground.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
No
REPAIR circuit 29-LB25 (OG/BU). TEST the system for normal operation.
B3: CHECK CIRCUIT 31S-LB26 (BK/OG) FOR OPEN

1
Measure the resistance between the liftgate switch C44 pin 1, circuit 31S-LB26 (BK/OG), and the luggage compartment lamp C130 pin 2, circuit 31S-LB26 (BK/OG), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new liftgate switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
