Roof Sheet Metal Repairs - Roof Front Frame Streetka 2003.5 (01/2003-07/2005)
Removal and Installation

Beam trammel
  1. Repair parts
    • Roof front frame
    • Upper A-pillar reinforcement

Removal

  1. General Notes
    • The fenders are removed before starting the repairs.
    • Required removal operations: Windshield, doors, weatherstrips, convertible top seals on roof front frame, hood with hinges, crash padding, A-pillar trim panel, rocker panel trim and driver or passenger seat.
    • Move carpets and wiring out of the working area.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Partial replacement of the roof front frame may be possible depending on the extent of the damage.
    Sectional repairs
    1. Roof front frame (side section).
    1. Roof front frame (side and upper sections).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:If a complete new roof frame is installed, the individual operations described for the left-hand side of the vehicle must be repeated on the right-hand side.

    1. Mill out the spot welds.
    1. Grind out the weld seams.

  1. Roof frame side section (view from inside)
    1. Mill out the spot welds.
    1. Mill out the spot welds (from above and below).
    1. Grind out the weld seams.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Before resistance spot welding of body panels with a total panel thickness of 3 mm and greater, the welding equipment instructions contained in sub-section 501-25A must be followed.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The upper A-pillar reinforcement must be cut out of the complete repair part in accordance with the dimensional specification.
    Upper A-pillar reinforcement
    • Cut location.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:
    • In order to check dimensional accuracy, the exact fit of the convertible top, the doors and the windshield must be checked.
    • If a complete new roof frame is installed, the individual operations described for the left-hand side of the vehicle must be repeated on the right-hand side.

    1. Resistance spot weld.
    1. Intermittent MIG weld.

  1. Roof frame side section (view from inside)
    1. Resistance spot weld.
    1. Intermittent MIG weld.

  1. Upper roof frame
    • Continuous weld brazing.
