FORD 1986 TAURUS
A moan and/or vibration from the A/C compressor may be experienced during normal driving (1800-2500 RPM). This is caused by the cycling of the
power steering pump and the A/C compressor. To correct this, install a new design mounting support/bracket and accessory drive belt using the
following procedure.
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Remove the washer fluid/radiator coolant reservoir.
3.
Remove the engine rollover shock and mounting brackets (manual transmission only).
4.
Disconnect and remove the horn.
5.
Remove the accessory drive belt.
6.
Remove all the alternator attaching bolts, then remove the alternator and support it off to the side.
7.
Remove the power steering pulley from the power steering pump with tool T69L-10300-B.
8.
Remove all the power steering pump attaching bolts. Remove the power steering pump and support it off to the side.
9.
Remove the front support bracket nuts and bolts, then remove the bracket.
10.
Remove the fixed idler center bolt, then remove the idler assembly from the power steering bracket.
11.
Remove the four power steering pump support bracket bolts, then remove the power steering pump support bracket.
12.
Remove the top two A/C compressor bolts and install the new A/C support, E7DZ-2882-A. (It may be necessary to move the radiator to the left or
right of the present position to remove the A/C compressor attaching bolts.)
13.
Install the new power steering pump support bracket, E6DZ-3C511-D, and attach it to the new A/C support, E7DZ-2882-A.
14.
Install a new bolt, N605531-S100, through the A/C support and into the power steering bracket.
15.
Tighten the three bolts for the A/C support to the power steering bracket.
16.
Install the new power steering and alternator brace, E6DZ-3C511-E, to the cylinder head, block and power steering bracket.
17.
Install the idler assembly to the power steering bracket.
18.
Install the power steering pump and the new pulley, E6DZ-3A733-A.
19.
Install the alternator and re-attach the alternator brace.
20.
Install the new drive belt, E3ZZ-8620-A.
