Reconnect electric cooling fan if unplugged.
18.
Make sure throttle plate is not stuck in throttle bore and that throttle plate stop screw is touching the rest pad with throttle closed.
19.
Reconnect negative battery terminal.
20.
Restart engine. With transmission in Neutral, hold engine speed at 2000 RPM for 30-45 seconds then allow engine to return to idle. Run engine at
idle for three (3) to five (5) minutes then check idle speed. The idle should be 700 RPM in Drive.
21.
Check and adjust throttle valve (TV) linkage. Refer to the Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 17-15-11.
NOTE:
The nominal controlled idle speed will be 700 RPM after performing this procedure.
