Recall - Liftgate Latch Replacement

SUBJECT:
Safety Recall 91S38 - Delivery Hold and Recall of Certain 1992 Taurus/Sable Station Wagons for Liftgate Latch Replacement.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Approximately 1400 1992 model year Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable station wagons built at the Atlanta Assembly Plant from March 5, 1991 through
August 9, 1991.

REASONS FOR RECALL
The secondary latch mechanism on the liftgate may not operate properly. If the liftgate is not completely closed it may open unexpectedly, even while the
car is in motion. Owners should be warned to be especially careful to check that the liftgate is completely closed before operating the car.

DEALER-OWNER CONTACT
Immediately contact any owner whose name is not on the list. Give owner a copy of the Owner Letter.

DISTRICT CONTACT
Advise district office if:
- an owner cannot be contacted.
- an owner does not make a service date.

FPSD CONTACT
Talk with your FPSD Service Zone Manager about all matters.

FORM 1863/64
Submit 1864 claims using DWE for all completed vehicles. You may use your original 1863 for your record file copy.
