This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to provide a new level disc and hub assembly for the 1992 3.8L Continental, Taurus/Sable.
ISSUE:
A "growl" noise from the FX-15 A/C compressor may be noticed at engine speeds between 1300 and 1500 RPM and 2400 and 2600 RPM. The noise is
the result of a component resonance inside the compressor.
ACTION:
Remove the compressor clutch disc and hub assembly and replace it with a new rubber damped disc and hub assembly. Refer to the appropriate Service
Manual, Section 12-03 (Continental) and Section 12-03C (Taurus/Sable), for service details.
3.0L Taurus/Sable - 1991 Models
Replace the existing clutch disc and hub assembly (16 tooth spline leaf spring types) with clutch disc and hub assembly (F2CZ-19D786-B). This is a
beaded 16 tooth spline rubber damped type.
3.0L Taurus/Sable - 1992-1993 Models
Replace the existing clutch disc and hub assembly (21 tooth spline leaf spring types) with clutch disc and hub assembly (F2CZ-19D786-A). This is a 21
tooth spline rubber damped type.
3.8L Continental, Taurus/Sable - 1992-1993 Models
