ISSUE:
A hesitation, stumble or stall may occur during the first two miles (4 km) or four minutes of driving time after an initial cold start at ambient
temperatures of 50~F (10~C) or below. These symptoms may be caused by the operating strategy of the powertrain EEC IV processor.
ACTION:
Perform the foliowing procedures to determine if a new EEC IV processor with a revised operating strategy is required.
1.
Follow the diagnostic procedures in the 1992 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service for the subject symptoms and service as required.
2.
If the concern still exists, install a new EEC IV processor (F3DZ-12A650-LA).
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
