The smart junction box (SJB) is also known as the generic electronic module (GEM).
The universal transmitter is an integral part of the LH sun visor and provides a convenient way to substitute up to 3 hand-held transmitters with a single
built-in device. The universal transmitter can learn the radio frequency codes of most current transmitters. The universal transmitter:

operates garage doors, gates and home/office lighting and security systems.

learns and transmits the radio frequency of up to 3 hand-held transmitters from any of the systems mentioned above.

is powered by the vehicle battery and charging system.
