POWER LIFTGATE INOPERATIVE FROM
INTEGRATED KEY TRANSMITTER (IKT) - BUILT
BETWEEN 311812008-3119/2008 AND BETWEEN
4/10/2008 AND 4/22/2008

2008 Taurus X

ISSUE
Some 2008 Taurus X vehicles built between 3/18/2008-3/19/2008 and between 4/10/2008 and 4/22/2008 may exhibit a power liftgate that opens when
using the button on the dash but does not open when using the IKT. This may be caused by the feature being turned off in the Smart Junction Box
(SJB/GEM) software.

ACTION
Configure the SJB/GEM software with the latest As-Built data by following the Service Procedure steps to correct.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Verify that the power liftgate operates properly using the button on the dash. If not, this TSB may not apply and you need to proceed with normal
Workshop Manual diagnostics. Refer to WSM, Section 501-14.

2.

Verify that the door locks cycle properly using the IKT. If not, this TSB may not apply and you need to proceed with normal Workshop Manual
diagnostics. Refer to WSM, Section 501-14.

3.

Configure the SJB/GEM by selecting Module Programming, Programmable Module Installation and SJB/GEM menu selections. Follow the
on-screen instructions.
