PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAG - TRIM COVER FIT

FORD:
2008-2009 Taurus X

ISSUE
Some 2008-2009 Taurus X vehicles may have a passenger frontal air bag trim cover with a poor fit/finish or uneven appearance at the corner of the air
bag cover. The fit may be caused by an unsecured cover hook and window to the air bag module housing.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE

IT MAY NOT BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY IF THE COVER IS NOT SECURED TO THE AIR BAG
MODULE.

1.

Remove the air bag module using Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-20B.

2.

Inspect the air bag trim cover hooks and windows for correct alignment.

a.

If they are not secure, apply pressure to the air bag cover to secure the windows and hooks.

b.

If the windows or hooks are damaged because of installation a new air bag module is required.
