Diesel engines require special oils!
It is very important for our customers' satisfaction that service personnel, sales personnel and customers of diesel equipped vehicles be reminded that the
engine oils recommended for use in these engines may not be the same as those commonly used in gasoline engines, For example, most SAE 10W40
weight oils are not classified as SF/CC or SF/CD and therefore are not recommended for use in diesel engines. Use of incorrect oils can result in serious
engine damage.
2.4L Diesel Used in the 1984 Mark VII/Continental
The only oils recommended for use in these engines are those with and "API Service Classification" of "SF/CD"*.
2.0L Diesel Used in the 1984 Escort/Lynx/Tempo Topaz; 1983/84 Ranger with 2.2L Diesel
The only oils recommended for these engines are those with an "API Service Classification" of "SF/CC" or "SF/CD".*
While this information is covered in the diesel training manuals and the Owner's Guide Booklet - Diesel Supplement, it is worth reminding service
personnel and customers of diesel vehicles to assure their continued satisfaction with our products.
