Set timing meter offset angle to -20.0 degrees. RPM meter should indicate 0000 (Figure H).

Start engine. Install Rotunda 014-00302 Throttle Control, or equivalent, and set engine speed to 2000-2500 rpm, no load. Warm engine up until
engine cooling fan turns on.

Adjust engine speed to 750 +/- 10 rpm, no load. Engine timing should be 8 +/- 1 degrees BTDC.

If indicated timing is within specifications, disconnect timing meter, remove injection pump rotating tool and install No. 3 front cam cover bolt.

If indicated timing is not within specification, adjust pump timing as follows:
*Loosen two injection pump mounting nuts and one bolt one half turn.
*Rotate turnbuckle counterclockwise to advance timing and clockwise to retard timing (Figure J).
*Tighten injection pump mounting nuts to 19-26 N-m (14-19 ft. lbs.). Tighten mounting bolt to 31-46 N-m (23-34 ft. lbs.).
CAUTION: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before loosening or tightening the lower FIP mounting bolt.
13.
Repeat Steps 10, 11 and 12. Readjust injection timing if necessary.
14.
Disconnect timing meter, remove injection pump rotating tool and install No. 3 front cam cover bolt.
