Ignition Lock Drive Gear Replace
1984---87 ESCORT, LYNX, EXP, TEMPO & TOPAZ
Removal
1.
Remove lock cylinder assembly.
2.
Remove plastic retainer, washer and lock drive gear from lock cylinder housing. Note location of lock drive gear in relation to rack teeth.
Installation
1.
Install lock drive gear in the same position as removed from. The lock drive gear is installed correctly when the last tooth of the drive gear is
meshed with the last tooth on the rack.
2.
Install washer and plastic retainer.
3.
Align drive gear flats with washer flats by pulling downward on column lock actuator.
4.
Install lock cylinder assembly.
