ISSUE:
A "clicking" noise from the front disc brake area during application when going in a forward or reverse direction may be caused by too
much clearance between the steering knuckle abutment and the inner disc brake pad.
ACTION:
Reduce the clearance between the steering knuckle abutment and inner disc brake pad by modifying the disc brake pad. Refer to the
following procedure for service details.

Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the steering knuckle abutment and the inner disc brake pad at the top (leading) and bottom
(trailing) ends as shown in Figure 2.
2.
Add the clearance readings together. The sum should be between .006-.012 inch (.015-.030 cm.).
3.
If the total clearance is greater than .012 inch (.030 cm.), remove the inner disc brake pad from the caliper. Refer to the appropriate Car Shop
Manual, Volume C, Section 12-20 for service details.
