TOE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

FORD 1984 TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 TOPAZ

The following procedure should be followed if rear wheel toe adjustment is required.

1.

Back vehicle onto alignment equipment, making sure the vehicle is as straight as possible. Front wheels are to be set straight ahead by
sighting along the tire and body.

2.

Attach the alignment heads to the rear wheels and adjust for wheel runout as required.

3.

Lower rear end of vehicle and jounce.

4.

Total rear toe can be read and recorded. Total rear toe is the sum of the left and right toe.

NOTE:

With the vehicle backed onto the alignment equipment, toe-in and toe-out are reversed. Toe-in on the rear wheels will be read as
toe-out.

5.

Loosen the rear arm and bushing assembly to spindle attachment bolts.

6.

Loosen both arm assembly to floor pan attachments.

7.

Push on the front edge or the rear edge of the tire/wheel assemblies to obtain the correct toe setting, then re-torque the arm assembly to floor
pan attachments 55-75 N-m (40-55 ft.lbs.).

8.

Remove the alignment heads, and drive vehicle off the alignment rack.
